5 Benefits to Adding Yoga to Your Weekly Workouts
Updated: Jun 29, 2019
Yoga is one of those workouts people underestimate or are sceptical about. So we have listed five very good reasons why you should take up Yoga.
1. Improves your flexibility
This one is the most obvious, because of the various stretching like movements throughout your yoga sessions you will be improving flexibility week by week.
2. Drains your lymph & boosts immunity
Movement throughout the yoga poses you increase lymph. This helps lymphatic drainage and the lymphatic system fight infection, destroy cancerous cells and remove the toxic waste products of cellular functioning.
3. Helps you focus
An important component of yoga is focusing on the present. Studies have found that regular yoga practice improves coordination, reaction time, memory, and even IQ scores. People who practice Transcendental Meditation demonstrate the ability to solve problems and acquire and recall information better.
4.Builds muscle strength
By building your strength you will be helping your body to protect itself from conditions like back pain and arthritis as you age.
5.Increases your blood flow
Exercise in general gets your blood flowing, yoga takes it that one step further. With movements that push blood from your feet to your head, twisting poses that wring out & release your venous blood from internal organs and allow oxygen to flow back through. You will feel more energised and it may improve sleep.
I’ve always been a huge Yoga fan, as it adds so many benefits to my life. If the one thing I appreciate the most about yoga (being a mum) is the quiet time to reflect, without any little distractions.
